Lone Star Opry– March Performance

The Lone Star Opry, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Giddings, has a great list of performers for the March 4 program, including Wade Benson Landry, Teresa Landry, and Gene Hendricks, backed by the outstanding Lone Star Opry Band.

Wade Benson Landry is known as Branson Missouri’s Cajun Entertainer and brings his South Louisiana influence to the stage with its hot sounds and energy. He combines spectacular Fiddlin’ talents with his country band, along with their great vocals to give the audience a taste of traditional country, western swing and gospel music sure to be enjoyed by all. Wade has played with such great names as George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Buck Trent, and Mell Tillis, and still often plays with Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys. He is joined by his talented and beautiful wife, Teresa Landry, for an exciting Cajun-Fun- Fest you are sure to want to come out and enjoy.

Also joining the Bensons this month will be the talented Gene Hendricks, backed by the regulars in the local outstanding Lone Star Opry Band. Gene is from San Antonio, Tx. and has traveled millions of miles to share his love of country music to fans across the U.S. and Canada throughout the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. These days he has a solo act, guest appears at events and Opry Nights, and donates much of his time to raising funds for nonprofits across the great state of Texas. His audiences enjoy the classic country songs of Ernest Tubb, Merle Haggard, Webb Pierce, and Hank Williams. He may even surprise you with an entire set devoted to Johnny Cash or a sweet Elvis Presley ballad. More than anything, Gene loves to sing and is excited to be invited back to the stage in Giddings.

The show will kick off at 7:30 pm on Monday March 4, with doors opening at 5:15 at the Giddings High School Cafetorium on Highway 77 North of Giddings. Admission is $5.00, children under 12 are free. Rotarians will be on hand to help with the parking and assistance to the building. Food is available.
