Giddings Library News Corner

Do you like to read magazines? The Giddings Public Library subscribes to more than 40 different magazines. The magazines range from crafts magazines to entertainment magazines to health and wellness magazines.

One category of magazines many of our patrons are interested in is the Texas magazines. Texas Fish and Game is the largest and most popular outdoor publication in the Lone Star State. It covers hunting, fishing, guns, gear, tackle, conservation, outdoor news, and wildlife subjects. This is the sportsman’s one-stop resource for information and education on Texas’ outdoors.

Texas Gardener is a magazine that provides information and advice on the unique aspects of Texas gardening. The current issue is packed with helpful tips and growing advice on topics like “Tomatoes for Texas,” “Hollyhocks,” and “Raised Beds on a Budget.”

Texas Highways is the travel magazine of Texas. It is known for its vivid pictures and interesting articles about people and places in Texas. The March issue includes an article on TexMex food titled “Whole Enchilada.” Another article is about the Texas Independence Trail. So discover the Lone Star State! Take a monthly page-by-page journey with Texas’ top travel writers and photographers as they explore the best of Texas.

Texas Live is another Texas travel magazine. It includes sections on Wine & Dine, Culture and Arts, Fashion and Style, True Texans, and more. Texas Live is published in our neighboring town of Brenham and includes many local events.

Texas Monthly reports on vital issues such as politics, the environment, industry, and education. This magazine is known for political commentary and compelling narrative nonfiction. As a leisure guide, it covers music, the arts, travel, restaurants, museums, and cultural events with its insightful recommendations.

Texas Parks and Wildlife includes news, hunting, fishing, parks, reservations, and outdoors programs. It is a wonderful source for those who love the great outdoors.

Stop by the library and check out some of our great Texas magazines. Whatever a person’s interests are, he or she is sure to find a magazine to meet their interests. Current issues are available to read in the library, and back issues are available for check out. Patrons may check out up to six magazines at a time. Why Subscribe? We Do.
