The Delta Kappa Gamma Society
The Gamma Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013, in the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg, Texas, with 57 members and 6 guests in attendance.
While members enjoyed high tea and refreshments, Melanie Crowhurst gave a history of tea and shared information on high tea. President Mary Keienburg thanked the Waller members for serving as hostesses.
Committee reports included Achievement Awards by Carole Fry, Legislative report by Lou Pruett, and World Fellowship report by Grace Holtkamp. Trudy Holland reported on the Week of Caring to be March 3-9, and Jeanell Dallmeyer gave a membership report. Carole Fry gave an update on the State Convention. At the convention, Gamma Omega members will help at the Necrology Service and will join all Delta Kappa Gamma members in bringing school supplies to support the school children of central Texas. A basket was passed around for the Schools for Africa Donation. It was announced that Delta Kappa Gamma/TSO Legislative Lobby Day will be on Wednesday, February 27, at the State Capitol.
Professional Affairs Chair Sue Wieprecht presented four scholarships. Michelle Farrell of Caldwell received the Maggie B. Selman Scholarship, Courtney Krueger of Burton and Erin Lischka of Bellville both received a Dorothy Louise Lehrmann Scholarship, and Carilyn Muzny of Caldwell received the Edna Marie Hamner Scholarship. Money from Operation Lend-a- Hand was given to SAAM, the Somerville Area Alliance Ministries.
The next meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. on March 2, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg with the Lee County members serving as hostresses.
