Students Travel to the BPA State Leadership Conference

Lexington High School chapter members, Gregory Willrich Jr, Chelsey Iselt, Jordyn Brinkman, Mallory Ender, Kelsi Hartranft, and Madison Higgins will join over 2,500 other conference delegates from across the state to participate in state level business skill competitions, general sessions, and the state officer candidate campaigns and elections. Besides having the opportunity to excel, they’ll experience Houston as they visit the city’s exciting sites.

“Students from the Texas Association’s Regional Leadership Conference have qualified to participate at the state level conference. The conference emphasizes business workforce education and training which members of the local chapter of Business Professionals of America at Lexington High School have received,” said chapter advisor, Donell Eichler who teaches Digital Media, Web Technology, and PIT. At Region competition, Gregory Willrich placed 3rd in Banking & Finance, Chelsey Iselt placed 3rd in Medical Office Procedures, Madison Higgins placed 1st in Economic Research Project- Individual, and in a team event called Economic Research Project- Team, Mallory Ender, Kelsi Hartfanft, and Jordyn Brinkman placed 2nd, all advancing to State competition in Houston, Texas. Also, at Region competition, Madison Higgins was inducted as the new Area 3 Region 2 Regional President. While at State competition, Gregory Willrich and Madison Higgins will receive the Statesman Torch Award for their outstanding leadership, dedication, and service activities that were performed during their years in Business Professionals of America.

Business Professionals of America is a national organization for middle school, high school, and college students preparing for careers in business and office occupations. The organization’s activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned at school. Business Professionals of America acts as a cohesive agent in the nationwide networking of education and business and industry, and is contributing to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.
