On Thursday, January 31st, the Lexington Middle School Lady Eagles hosted the Rosebud-Lott Lady Cougars for the last home game of the year. In the opening B game, the Lady Cougars utilized height and speed to outpace the Lady Eagles for a 14-2 victory. Scoring for Lexington was Erica Clinard.

The 7A match was the game of the night. Rosebud-Lott went out in front and seemed to be controlling the game all the way into the fourth quarter. At that time, they had a lead of 17-11. However, during the fourth quarter, Lexington went to a full court press that stymied the Lady Cougars and allowed Lexington to tie the game at 17, with only seconds left.

In a back and forth bout of fouling and inbounding, Lexington was sent to the free throw line with 14 seconds left in the game. Alas, they missed the shot, eventually sending everyone into a two-minute overtime.

Lexington won the tip off, fed the ball down court to #0 Kegan Walch who laid up for 2. The Lady Eagles were able to hold the Lady Cougars scoreless in overtime and, with another bucket by #13 Brittany Krenek, Lexington won the game in OT 21-17.

Scoring for the Eagles were: 2 by #0 Kegan Walch, #13 Brittany Krenek and #20 Ma’Kayla Atkins; four by #35 Rayghann Stewart, and 11 by #34 Keanna Clemons.

The last game of the night, and the last game for the 8A Lady Eagles to play at home as middle school basketball players, was a fun and exciting game to watch, but the outcome was never in doubt.

The Lady Cougars led from wire to wire and won the contest by a score of 41-15.

Scoring for the Lady Eagles were: two each by #10 Clarissa Parker and #22 Megan Walch; four by #2 Jaclyn Alford, and 7 by #25 Madison Stefek.

The Lexington Middle School Lady Eagles will travel to Rogers on Thursday, February 7th, for the last basketball game of the season.
