Lady Eagles Finish Florence 44-38

The Lexington Lady Eagles staged another one of their comebacks Tuesday night, in defeating Florence 44-38. Lexington fell behind in the second quarter, going to the locker room down 22-16 at halftime. The defense played lights out in the second half. In the third quarter alone, Lexington did not allow Florence a basket until less than a minute was left in the stanza. The Lady Eagle’s offense came alive in the fourth quarter, as Lexington scored 22 points to overtake the Lady Buffs and earn their fifth victory of the district race.

The Lady Eagles were led in the victory by Mackenzie Brown with 21 points. Kristen Boettcher was also in double figures with 10 points. Fourteen of the Lady Eagles’ points in the fourth quarter came from the free throw line. Lexington only missed three charity tosses in the fourth period. The Lady Eagles played exceptional defense in the second half, and the fourth period offensive explosion propelled them to victory.
