Eagles Open Baseball Training

by Mike Organ

The Eagle’s baseball team began ‘spring training’ last week under the direction of new coach, Dylan Conway. Conway assisted former coach Craig Finley for the last two years.

The usual infield practice, batting practice, and getting the pitchers’ arms into shape is the focus of the early work. The Eagles worked on game situations with their first scrimmage, which was Tuesday, with Giddings. They will work on weaknesses when they scrimmage Franklin Saturday at 1:00, to see if the kinks have been ironed out. Two more scrimmages next week with Madisonville and Smithville will get the Eagles ready for the regular season opener against Navasota on February 19th.

Coach Dylan Conway has scheduled a “Hit-a-thon” for the community on Saturday, February 16th. Community members can take swings if they feel their youth hasn’t escaped them.
