Zelma Lea Rupert Perry

January3,1932-January31,2013

She was born January 3, 1932 in Pikeville, Kentucky to Oscar H. Rupert Sr. and Katherine (Kendrick) Rupert. Her daddy called her “Zeke”.

She went to sleep here on earth Thursday night, January 31, 2013 and woke up in Heaven in the arms of her Savior.

Her husband of 59 years is Daniel H. Perry of Honaker, Virginia. They were married on March 5, 1954 in Ashland, Kentucky. They lived near Lake Somerville on a small piece of land that she loved dearly. No amount of coaxing could convince her to leave or live elsewhere.

She attended Arlington Bible Seminary with her husband in Arlington, Texas, as they trained together to serve God according to his calling. She was always involved with music, children and youth programs in any church where her husband Dan, preached or served. Her life was a testimony and she served as a witness. She never missed an opportunity to witness to others about Jesus. Even in her last days in the hospital, she would ask any nurse, doctor, technician or facility worker if they were a Christian or if they were saved.

Her loving sister, Mary Burks and husband Al Burks, live in Magnolia, Texas. Her brother, Oscar Herman Rupert Jr., preceded her in death in 2007. She is also survived by her son, Daniel Joe Perry of Nashville, Tennessee and his wife Fay. She loved her daughter-in-law, Fay, and her brother-in-law, Al, like they were her own flesh and blood. She has many nieces and nephews and their children that grew up around her that she loved so much.

She has many cousins, aunts and uncles back in Kentucky and elsewhere that she spoke of often. She has a son, John Kevin Perry, a daughter, Patricia Lea Fortenberry, granddaughters Rachel and Sarah, and a grandson, Rowdy.

She left behind many of her closest friends like Steve, Melissa, Diane, Willie and Shirley and many others too numerous to mention. Her family wants to thank all of those that were close to her and spent time with her through her last days.

There will be a Memorial Service on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Harmony Baptist Church 6670 Highway 36 South, Caldwell, Texas, between Lyons and Caldwell. Please send any floral arrangements to that address or make a donation to the church in lieu of flowers.
