Ervin Freddy Schroeder

November4,1946-January18,2013

Funeral services for Ervin Schroeder, 66, of Lincoln, TX, were held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor, with Rev. Leif Hasskarl officiating.

Ervin Freddy Schroeder was born in Fedor, Texas on November 4, 1946 to Ewald and Ella (Dube) Schroeder. He was baptized on November 10, 1946 by Rev. Paul G. Brust and confirmed on June 25, 1961 by Rev. Andrew Szegedin at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor, TX where he was a lifelong member. His confirmation verse was 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil”.

Ervin was a lifetime ranch and farm worker. His best times were spent outside caring for his animals, maintaining farm equipment, gardening, hunting and fishing and being a devoted uncle.

Uncle Erv was an avid RFD-TV and old western enthusiast. For the past 14 months, Ervin has fought for his life following a dog attack resulting in the loss of both legs. He struggled daily to regain his independence. Despite the challenges, he still managed to brighten the lives of those near and dear to him.

Since February 2012, Ervin has resided at Retirement & Nursing in Austin, where he made many friends with the staff, with the use of his witty sense of humor. As he was in the process of transitioning to his sister’s home, Ervin answered his Savior’s call home unexpectedly on Friday, January 18, 2013, with his sister and niece by his side. Ervin will forever be remembered for his hard work, shy smile and generous heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Fritz and Theresa Schroeder and Albert and Otillie Dube; great-niece, Kaylee Urban, as well as numerous uncles and aunts.

He is survived by his brother, Clarence Schroeder of Loebau; sister, Linda Urban of Leander and brother-in-law, Allan Urban of Giddings. He is also survived by his nieces, Michelle Zapalac and husband Barry of Cedar Park, Rachel Urban of Austin and Sarah Urban of Leander; nephew, David Urban and Morgan Hiser of Austin; great-nephews, Caleb and Jacob Zapalac of Cedar Park; aunts and uncles, Joyce Schroeder, Elsie Fischer, Adeline Schroeder, Louis Lehman, Herman and Gladys Dube, Margaret Richter and Edna Richter, as well many other relatives and friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Larry Dube, Robert Poulsen, Jason Dube, Donnie Schroeder, Harry Schroeder and Cody Poulsen.

Honorary pallbearers were Andrew Richter, Chris Dube, David Urban and Barry Zapalac.
