LISD Sophomore Band Members Earn High Praise

Jason Handrick and Clayton Suehs, sophomores at LHS, earned places on the Association of Texas Small School Bands Region 18/26 Band. Jason Handrick and Clayton Suehs, sophomores at LHS, earned places on the Association of Texas Small School Bands Region 18/26 Band. Sophomores Jason Handrick and Clayton Suehs were selected to the Association of Texas Small Schools Bands Region 18/26 Band, an honor not easily achieved, according to Lexington ISD Director of Bands, Nora Mosby.

“Jason was selected as 2nd Chair Euphonium in the Symphonic Band and Suehs was selected as 1st Chair Euphonium in the Concert Band. They traveled to Texas State University in San Marcos to perform with theATSSB Region Band on January 19th.”

“Jason also was selected to the AREA Band and auditioned for a position in the Texas All-State Band. Selection to the Texas All- State Band is one of the highest honors obtained by band students across Texas. He placed 3rd at auditions, thus becoming a 1st Alternate to the band.”

Jason and Clayton both have worked extremely hard this year perfecting their performance skills and leadership within the band. Both students also serve as mentors to the 6th Grade Beginning Band and give up most of their lunch time each day to work with and guide our younger band students. I am very proud of both of them and can’t wait to see their talent grow these next two years. “
