After the long Christmas break, the Lexington Lady Middle School Eagles were back in action, heading to Jarrell to take on the Lady Cougars. There is nothing quite like the first game after the holidays when the school districts spent the holidays re-finishing the gym floors, giving it that over powering lacquer finish smell that leads to a headache after sitting in the gym for three hours, watching all your teams get defeated knowing you still have over an hour winter drive ahead. With the second half of middle school basketball season started, it is nice to see the level of play has improved for everyone, but in this case, Jarrell was over powering and defeated Lexington in all three matches for the night. The Lexington B team lost 10-6 with #21 Andia Yannis, #32 Stacy Washington and #32 Erica Clinard each scoring two points for the Eagles. The 7A team lost 42-13 with #0 Kegan Walch scoring 3, #15 Kaity Washington scoring 6, and both #20 Ma’Kayla Atkins and #34 Keanna Clemons each scoring 2. The 8A team lost 43-22 with #21 Madison Stefek leading all scorers with 11, followed by #5 Courtney Strain scoring 6, #4 Mariah Garza had 2, #14 Emma Beard had 2 and #3 Kynslie Meyer had 1.
