Lady Eagles Get Bouquet

by Mike Organ

The Lady Eagles defeated Rosebud-Lott 66-30 Friday night to move them to 3-4 in district play. This was Lexington’s second district win this week. Kristen Boettcher and Mackenzie Brown led the Lady Eagles in scoring, with 17 and 14 points respectively. One of the reasons for the big win was a dramatic improvement at the free throw line where the Lady Eagles made 18 of 31 shots.

Lexington got off to a great start, scoring 15 points in the first quarter. Boettcher and Brown both scored four points and Christen Schneider dropped a three-ball. Andrea Plummer put in a couple of close shots as Lexington moved out to a 15- 9 lead.

Boettcher dropped a couple of threes and a deuce to keep the Green rolling in the second period. Brown drove the lane to get the defense focused on her, as she dished the ball off to Meghann Wrinkle and Plummer for easy shots.

In the third quarter it was Madison Bexley’s time to shine, as she dropped a pair of treys after getting an outlet pass from a Brown drive. Schneider also put another three in the bucket, as the Lady Eagles scored 20 points to pull away from the Lady Cougars. Lexington led 56-28 at the end of the quarter.

The Lady Eagles lost some of their free throw concentration also, missing six of their 13 misses in the period.
