Lady Eagles Deal Yoe Woe 40-32

by Mike Organ

On a night when few things went right, the Lexington Lady Eagles won a district game. The Lady Eagles shot poorly from the field, from the three-point line, and the free throw line, but did enough to defeat Cameron. Lexington started off quickly, taking a fivepoint lead in the first quarter and expanding it to eight by halftime. Cameron mounted a charge in the third quarter, erasing seven of the eight point lead. Just when it looked like Cameron was going to pull off a win, the Lady Eagles started getting things right.

With Cameron having taken the lead midway of the fourth quarter, Lexington began driving to the basket, in the name of Mackenzie Brown. Brown got fouled many times (not all called), with some assists to Andrea Plummer and Christen Schneider, before the Green pulled out the victory. Lexington only made 13 of 33 free throws, but Brown put in five in a row late in the fourth quarter when it counted. Schneider dropped two three-pointers that drove a dagger into the Cameron comeback effort.

The Lady Eagles only shot 23% from the field, 39% from the free throw line, and had 18 turnovers, for the bad things. Andrea Plummer had 13 rebounds to lead the team. The Lady Eagles stole the ball 13 times from the Lady Yoe.

The Lady Eagles had balanced scoring. Brown and Plummer had nine each, and Madison Bexley and Schneider had eight each.
