Sheriff’s Report

January 7, 2013

A caller reported a silver colored Ford 150 truck that was driving up and down CR 114. Deputy Carvin spoke to the complainant and searched the area for a vehicle matching the description given.

Deputy York and Deputy Carvin were dispatched to a residence on CR 227 after a caller reported that a blue extended cab Chevrolet truck was at a residence. The subjects were located but had permission to be there.

January 8, 2013

Deputy Carvin was dispatched to put up cows that were out on CR 117. The owner was contacted.

A complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office and spoke to Chief Deputy Lapham and Deputy Carvin in reference to his cattle that were picked up by the auction barn.

Deputy Crockett spoke to a complainant regarding a child custody case. Subject was given options and said he would return if he had any other problems.

A caller reported that he was called to assist a vehicle that was stuck in a bar ditch on Hwy 290. The fog was bad and he requested traffic control. Deputy York assisted on Hwy 290 East, approx. four miles out of Giddings.

January 9, 2013

Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a major accident on Hwy 77 approx 4 miles north of Hwy 21. The caller reported that it involved an 18 wheeler. Chief Deputy Lapham, Deputy Carvin, Deputy Crockett and Deputy Ledenbach assisted at the scene with traffic control for several hours.

Deputy Ledenbach spoke to a complainant who advised that her ex-husband was harassing her by sending her pictures of their children. She has a restraining order and cannot make contact with him or their children. A report was made.

Deputy Crockett and Deputy Ledenbach were dispatched to a residential alarm on CR 430 in Dime Box.

A motorist reported a calf out on Hwy 21 East of Hwy 77. Deputy York was dispatched and the owner of the calf was on site, but was stuck in the ditch. Deputy York assisted him.

A concerned relative had been attempting to get in touch with her uncle who resides on FM 2239. She had been trying to call him, but his line was constantly busy. Deputy York made contact with her uncle and found that he was fine.

A motorist reported a vehicle in the ditch on Hwy 290 West near Color Star Growers. Deputy York checked on the vehicle and advised that it was well off the roadway and there was no damage to any property or the vehicle. It appeared to be stuck in the mud.

Deputy Ray and Deputy York were dispatched to FM 696 West to check on a stranded motorist. The vehicle was located and the driver advised that she was out of gas and had a dead battery, but had help on the way.

January 10, 2013

A resident reported that a red car was parked at Hwy 77 and CR 114. Deputy Ayres checked on the vehicle and advised dispatch that it was unattended but secure and completely off the roadway.

Several motorists reported donkeys out on the roadway on FM 696 West near the Bastrop County line. Deputy Allen was dispatched and removed them from the roadway.

January 11, 2013

A caller reported that he heard gunshots and saw a dually driving from CR 309 on CR A. Deputy Rudolph and Deputy Skinner searched the area.

The Sheriff’s Office received numerous calls reporting a threevehicle head on collision near the bowling alley on Hwy 290 West. Giddings Fire Dept was dispatched for Jaws of Life and B&M Ambulance was also sent. Two helicopters were needed and Justice of the Peace Pct 2 was needed at the scene. Chief Deputy Lapham, Deputy Carvin and Deputy Ledenbach all assisted at the scene with traffic control.

Deputy Ledenbach spoke to a complainant who wanted to make a report, claiming that her son was assaulted at Dime Box School and had a broken arm because of the incident. A report was taken.

A motorist reported cows out on CR 223 @ CR 224. The owner of the cattle arrived on the scene and put his cows up.

A caller reported that he was involved in an accident on Hwy 21 East @ CR 404 in Old Dime Box. He was driving an 18-wheeler. The driver of the other vehicle advised he was not injured. Deputy Crockett assisted with traffic control.

Deputy York and Deputy Ray were dispatched to FM 696 West to put up donkeys that were out again. The donkeys ran into the woods. Deputies attempted to locate the owner.

Deputy Crockett was dispatched to a disturbance at 4135 E. Austin. The complainant reported that his neighbor went to his house and hit him on his head and he had no idea why. Subject did not want to file any charges at this time but would call back if he changed his mind. A report was taken.

A caller reported a group of 3 to 4 cars that were parked behind L&F Manufacturing. Deputy Crockett located the vehicles and spoke to the driver who stated his GPS took him down the wrong road and he got stuck. His friends were there to help him. Everyone was identified and released from the scene.

January 12, 2013

A motorist reported a black truck parked on the side of the road on CR 114 @ CR 135 in Lincoln. Deputy York was dispatched and located the truck. The vehicle was unoccupied, but secure and completely off the roadway.

Deputy York attempted a welfare check on PR 5000 in Ledbetter. A caller reported that after speaking to her mother, she became concerned because her mother seemed really upset. No one was at the residence, but a neighbor was contacted and she advised she appeared to be ok earlier that day.

Deputy Carvin was dispatched to FM 112 approx 2 miles from the “Y” in Lexington. A caller reported approx 20 head of cattle out.

A caller reported that her niece was making threats towards family members on CR 411 in Lexington. She advised that the girl is mentally ill and needs help. Deputy Ledenbach and Deputy Carvin responded. The girl was brought to the Sheriff’s Office and was evaluated by MHMR. Deputy Carvin transported her to Austin State Hospital.

Deputy Ledenbach took a report regarding criminal mischief on Ellis St. Deputies closely patrolled the residence on all shifts.

The Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of loud music on CR 233. Deputy Ledenbach went to the residence and asked them to turn down the music, which they did without a problem.

A caller reported that his vehicle broke down on CR 133 just east of CR 116. He advised that he lived close and requested help in getting his car off the roadway. Deputy Ray assisted and gave him a courtesy ride home.

January 13, 2013

Deputy Crockett was dispatched to a residence on CR 401 after a complainant reported that he was having problems with his neighbor. The matter was resolved.

A motorist reported cows out on FM 141 in the construction zone. Deputy Ledenbach responded.

A caller reported that a female subject was on his property attempting to hit him with a baseball bat. Deputy Crockett took a report and charges are pending at this time.

A motorist reported that there was a dead deer in the middle of Hwy 21 @ CR 327. Deputy York removed the deer and located a vehicle nearby that hit it. A trooper was called to the scene to make a crash report.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call from a resident on CR 114 reporting that he heard his dogs barking, and when he looked outside, he saw someone getting out of his brother’s tractor. The caller advised that he got his shotgun and went out and shot towards the area he saw the person. Deputy Ray, Deputy Crockett and Deputy York searched the area. Deputies were given a description of a vehicle that was seen in the area earlier that day. A close patrol was put in effect on all shifts.
