PHOTO BY JEWELL GLOVER, Reporter Northwest Lee County 4-H kicked off this year in August, as usual. Due to a new and inexperienced reporter, there has not been any news posted. Sorry, for those interested. I plan to start reporting monthly for our dedicated followers.

At a Northwest Lee County meeting held on January 8, 2013, we talked about old business, which included some past community services and Livestock show deadlines.

For our Christmas community service project, we colored and laminated place mats for the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Giddings. The place mats were delivered by Mrs. Burris, Mrs. Sanders, Mrs. Schneider, Shelby, and Abby.

Broiler order deadlines were due December 3, 2012, and the swine validations were in Giddings on December 13, 2012.

In new business, the archery, pistol, and rifle competitions were held on January 11, 2013. Cake recipes are due on January 25, 2013. Participants may need to contact the Stock Show Board before then, because there has been a change in the recipe rules.

Please remember that all Lee County Livestock Show participants’ entry forms are due on or before January 25, 2013 at the Lee County Extension Office in Giddings, TX.

Northwest Lee CountyYouth Supporters will be holding their annual fundraiser on February 2, 2013, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Lexington Park Building. If you are a current ticket holder, please mail in your payment, or tickets if you no longer want to participate, so that we can plan accordingly.
