Lady Eagles Take a Step Back

by Mike Organ

The Lady Eagles took a step back in their development as they lost to previously winless Florence 31- 30 Saturday, in Florence. This loss will hurt their chances at a playoff berth from District 22AA.

After taking a huge step forward Thursday, with a defeat over Rogers, the Lady Eagles could never get into the game Saturday. Lexington shot their lowest percentage of the year from the mysterious free throw line, making only 5 of 18. Lexington missed two free throws with14 seconds left in the game and the Lady Eagles down 31-30. An ill-advised pass, that was stolen and driven to the Florence basket for the win, was just a snapshot of how things went for the Lady Eagles.

Christen Schneider was the leading scorer for the Lady Eagles, as she dropped threes and then drove to the bucket when Florence tried to defend the threepointer. Kristen Boettcher was right behind with nine points. Madison Bexley had a good day rebounding, grabbing nine caroms and using good block-out technique.
