Willie Erich Schroeder
Willie Erich Schroeder was born on April 8, 1917 in Giddings, Texas to Fritz & Theresia (Bigon) Schroeder. He was baptized on April 22, 1917 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. William Mueller and confirmed on April 30, 1933 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Greens Creek, Texas by Rev. Paul C. Eifert. His confirmation verse was Genesis 15:1 “After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” He attended the Good Hope School near Giddings. Willie was united in marriage to Adeline Louise Hobratschk on October 10, 1948 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda, Texas by Rev. Paul C. Eifert. He had been employed with Butler Brick Yard in Elgin and Cargil Nutrena in Giddings before retiring as a custodian at Immanuel Lutheran School in Giddings. Willie was a longtime rancher who enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping.
Willie passed away the morning of Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at his home in Giddings.
Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.
