Just a Thought.......
That said, I want to remind you of what you have not read.
You have not read that he was an Eagle Scout. You have not read that he was a valued member of his local chapter of FFA. You have not read that his family regularly attended church and saw that he went to youth group. You have not read that he was a follower of Jesus Christ.
Nothing has been shared about his moral upbringing. Are we surprised, then, that all agree that what he did was immoral?
Are you willing to admit that there might be a connection between his lack of moral education and his actions?
If so, are you willing to consider how you are raising your own children, how you are strengthening your own moral life?
We continue to cry out for justice and righteousness and better behavior after every crisis, but in the meantime, we continue to act as if such things are optional.
It is the most radical kind of foolishness, but we justify it by our declaration that “no one is going to tell me what to do . . . not even God”. And then we act shocked when someone takes this freedom to the extreme.
So, somewhere outside the city, Jesus weeps, and God cries with Him, sharing their despair that so many have turned away from the path of life and love.
