Martha May Early
A graveside service will be held in Martha’s honor at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Burns Cemetery in Blue, Texas.
Martha was born on August 26, 1925 to parents, Mark and Eleanor Loomis Swisher in Cleveland, Ohio. After high school, she attended Ohio State University where she received her bachelor’s degree.
Martha very much enjoyed the mountains from living briefly in Seattle, then Southern California, before coming back to Ohio and marrying John Oak Early. She thoroughly enjoyed the mountains while living in Colorado, near Estes Park, while Jon earned his Master’s Degree at Colorado State University, in Fort Collins, Colorado where their son, Adrian was born. Martha loved to travel, especially where majestic natural beauty abounded. She taught us that even when we are too busy, to slow down, stop and take the time to enjoy nature. She also loved poetry, with her sketched artwork on index cards.
She also loved singing and playing the piano. Due partly to the 9 month long residence of the family in Piracicaba, Brazil, she also enjoyed travel programs and learning of other cultures. Martha was a member of the order of the Eastern Star, NARFE and the AAUW.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Early and parents.
To cherish her memory, Martha leaves behind her son, Adrian B. Early and fiancé Mary Stifflemire of Lexington, Texas; brother, Otis Swisher of Medford, Oregon; sister, Charlotte Emrick and husband Bob of Sunbury, Ohio; grandson, Aaron M. Early and wife Lindsey of Giddings, Texas; great grandchildren, Lilly, Addison and Colton of Giddings, Texas; grandson, Adam L. Early and wife Jenna of Buda, Texas; great granddaughter, Ashlyn Early of Buda, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
