Just a Thought.......

Rev. DaveFischer Rev. DaveFischer It was late on Christmas Eve and the security guard for the Great Mall was making his rounds. That’s when he saw the oddly dressed man in the robe and the sandals. He was hunched in one corner of the building as if to ward off the cold and he seemed to be crying.

Keeping his headlights aligned with the stranger, the guard cautiously approached him.

“Are you okay?”, he asked.

With a start of sudden embarassment, the man raised his head and began to scramble to his feet.

“I’m all right,” he responded. “Just needed to rest for a moment. Don’t want to cause any trouble. I’m going now.”

“What are you doing here?” inquired the guard.

“I was hoping to find a place for the night,” said the man, “but it seems that no one remembers me anymore.”

“So, you’re from around here?” asked the guard.

“Used to be here quite a bit,” said the man, “but lately, the invitations have kind of dried up. It seems that people would rather I not show up - makes them uncomfortable somehow.”

“Did you do something to them?”, quizzed the officer.

“I loved them,” said the man, “but these days they seem to like things more than me.”

“Well,” said the guard, “Christmas is about gifts.”

“I understand,” replied the stranger, “but it wasn’t always.”

“I think I heard something about that.” said his inquisitor.

“But I don’t remember anymore just what it was that was so important in those days. Anyhow, you’ll have to move along. By the way, I need your name for my records.”

“My name? My name is Jesus.”

“And your last name?” asked the guard.

“Christ,” declared the man. “Jesus Christ”.

“Thanks,” the officer said, “By the way, have a Merry
