Rockdale Rocks Eagles in Opener

by Mike Organ

Lexington opened the 2012 basketball season with a road trip to Rockdale. The Tigers were not good hosts as they beat the Eagles 69-43. The Eagles ran into a torrid Tiger in Wendell Mitchell, as he poured in 33 points for the Tigers. The Eagles were playing after one day of practice, having lost to Refugio on Friday night in the football playoffs. Lexington played well for the first outing under new coach Michael Williams.

Jason Washington led Lexington in scoring with 16 points, followed closely by London Jacob and Eriq Mitchell with 15. Jacob led the Eagles in rebounding with 11 collections.

The Eagle JV also lost its opener to Rockdale 55-14.
