Approval for Construction Documents for Courthouse
The Commissioners gave final approval on the agreement between Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc and the county for preparing necessary construction documents so that the next phase of the Courthouse restoration can occur.
As reported earlier this year, the most recent foundation repairs need to be observed for at least one year after completion, to be sure the deterioration has been stopped; then interior repairs can be done. It is planned that an application will be made for a grant from the Texas Historical Commission for funding of these repairs. The cost of this preparation will be $135,000.
The Court also agreed to an engagement letter for an actuarial company, CapRisk, to perform actuarial valuation for the triennial update of county obligations for employee benefits. The liabilities for future years’ payments must be included in county financial reports and statements. CapRisk was chosen, since they were $2,000 less expensive that the next higher provider.
