DAVID VANEK – is a native of La Grange and has performed at the Opry several times. Before his disability, he had aspirations of being a music major, playing both trumpet and piano. Now despite being disabled, he uses his vocal talents to bring joy to others. He is a member of the choir at the First United Methodist Church in La Grange. In addition, David is always willing to sing at special occasions such as weddings and funerals. He actually has had several people who have already requested him to sing The Lord’s Prayer at their funeral.
KEN BROTHERS – is another one of our local entertainers who has been playing the guitar and singing country music for some thirty plus years all over Texas and surrounding states. His distinctive approach to yodeling and singing has brought pleasure to audiences everywhere. One of the highlights of his musical career was winning the State’s yodeling Championship Competition in 1977, and held the title in 1978 and 1979. Ken is also a songwriter and has recorded his own music. Ken is a family man, a wonderful singer, a first class yodeler and an all around good guy.
ARTHUR BOSQUE – who is one of our hometown singers, will be here to sing some Spanish songs and will be doing a tribute to the late and great Freddy Fender.
THE DUJKA BROTHERS – The duo of John & Mark Dujka are celebrating their 25th year in the entertainment business. They have appeared at numerous public and private celebrations, spreading their excitement for the traditional music that helped build and strengthen Czech and German communities in the state. Their music can be heard on polka radio programs across the nation, as well as the Big Joe Polka show on RFD-TV, and they have been recognized by the Texas Polka Music Association and 247PolkaHeaven.com for their recordings. They are proficient on numerous wind and keyboard instruments, as well as guitars and accordions, blending their voices to create an outstanding sound that has helped to make them one of Texas’ most popular duos in polka music. You will be amazed by their versatility and their honesty in delivering the best in Texas polka and waltz music. The tradition continues and they will keep you at the edge of your seat. They have an anniversary CD available with 17 toe tapping tunes.
We are hoping to have a visitor from the North Pole. Heard from a good source that ole Santa Claus will take time out of his busy schedule to come and visit our Opry. So be sure to be with us on Monday, DECEMBER 17, 2012 for another great line of entertainment at a low price.
