Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

The Cowboys played down to their competition Sunday and nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Jerry needs to hire some players with character, not characters.

It is a shame to see the Eagles’ season hinge on a call like the one the officials made on the forward lateral, which was an incomplete pass in my book. I think the Lexington coaches had a valid argument on the unfortunate ruling.

The Lady Eagles are turning into a pretty good basketball team, without any noticeable height. They block out and play tough defense. Those two traits will win some games when their shooting is off.

Texas did not look very good against Kansas State. The Horns did their best to promote Collin Klein for the Heismann, just like they did when they let Ndamukong Suh take Colt McCoy’s trophy. Coach Mack has a lot of top recruits that are not performing up to expectations. Whose fault is it? It lies ultimately with the head coach. He may not survive and have to retire in the near future. Rumor has it the buyout is only $2.5 million. That is petty cash for some Texas Alumni!!!!!! Money is what it is all about.
