Lady Eagles Capture 2nd @ Dime Box

by Mike Organ

Lexington’s Lady Eagles defeated Fayetteville and Dime Box to get to the finals of the Dime Box Tourney last week. The Lady Eagles put up a gallant effort before succumbing to Moulton in the finals.

Lexington literally bombed Fayetteville into defeat with a 61-16 drubbing. Lexington dropped in nine three-point shots to go with 14 deuces to totally bomb the Lionesses. Christen Schneider was the leading bomber with four treys. Schneider had three in a row in the third quarter as Lexington put the game away.

Lexington topped host Dime Box 54-19 in Friday’s match. Kristen Boettcher and Madison Bexley led the Lexington charge with 10 points each. Lexington won this game with two-point shots. Lexington was a respectable 46% from two-point land. The Lady Eagle threepoint shooting fell off with a four of 20 performance.

Saturday’s championship game against Moulton was played after Friday night’s football game that kept some of the players out late getting home from San Antonio. Moulton defeated Lexington 26-22. Both teams played excellent defense as the scores indicate. Madison Bexley had 12 points to lead Lexington.
