Lucille Irene Wolff
Lucille Irene Fritsche Wolff was born in Giddings, Texas on October 2, 1917 to Herman Fritsche and Ida Risse Fritsche. She was baptized on October 21, 1917 by Rev. G.W. Fischer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. She was confirmed on March 29, 1931 by Rev. G.W. Fischer at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Her confirmation verse was Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you”.
She graduated from Giddings High School in 1935 and attended Texas Lutheran Junior College in Seguin. On April 9, 1944 she was united in marriage to August L. Wolff at St. John’s Lutheran Church in San Antonio with Rev. August L. Wolff Sr. officiating. Their marriage was blessed with two children, August and Dianne.
Lucille had been a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Giddings since 1946. She taught Sunday School for over 25 years and was the church choir director for over 28 years. She was an active member of the Women of the Church, holding various offices in that organization. Lucille enjoyed spending time with her family and doing volunteer work at nursing homes and visiting shut-ins.
She is survived by her son, August, Jr. & his wife, Judy of Lincoln and their children: Leah and Dennis Murphy and their sons, Andrew and John of Round Rock and Elizabeth and Richard Osborn and their daughter, Lucy of Round Rock; her son-in-law, Melvin Zoch of Giddings and his and Dianne’s children: Kathy Garza and Jeff Williams and her children Morgan and Bailey of Giddings, and Kristy and Michael Gholson and their children, Heather, Zachary and Chase of Giddings; her sister, Elvira Pfluger of Austin; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mohr of Fredericksburg and also by nieces, nephews and many friends, including the members of Martin Luther Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, August; her daughter, Dianne; one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Jeremy Walloch officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.
Mrs. Wolff passed away early the morning of Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Country Care Plex in Giddings.
