Sports Thoughts…

by Mike Organ

Lexington and Refugio meet in the playoffs for the third straight year. Both teams are hard hitting and play on the edge. It should be a great game, with the Eagles prevailing this year. The team that wins will hold its poise throughout the game.

It looks like Johnny Manziel will make it to New York in the Heismann trophy voting. He is really exciting to watch and he makes his teammates better, which is one of the criteria for the award. I don’t think he will win the award, but he is one of the best in the nation, no doubt.

Baylor has shocked the college football world the last two weeks. Baylor had four wins and needed six to be bowl eligible. With Kansas State, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma left, it seemed implausible the Bears would win six. Well they have six, and still get to play Oklahoma.

TCU put a big dent in Texas’ plans. The Horns look to finish with a 7-5 record with a boat load of 5-star recruits that are seemingly under performing. A second or third tier bowl game is in their future.

The Cowboys’ defense is undisciplined, just like their coordinator. My prediction is both Rob and Rex Ryan will have different jobs next year.

Why is it that Wade Phillips’ defense is so good with the Texans and was so porous with Dallas?
