Lady Eagles Snook(ered) 51-40

by Mike Organ

The Lady Jays of Snook pressured themselves out to a 36- 14 lead at halftime, only to see Lexington come back in the fourth period to make a game of it. Snook used a tight man-to-man defense and a full court press to score 19 points in the first quarter and 17 more in the second, while limiting Lexington to just seven each quarter.

Snook stopped pressing at the half and it took Lexington a quarter to get their offensive effort going. Lexington matched the seven point output of the first two quarters in the third period before bursting loose in the fourth. Christen Schneider hit three treys and Mackenzie Brown hit a triple to trigger the Lady Eagle offense. The Lady Eagles’ shooting percentage was much better in the fourth period because they were shooting the ball instead of throwing the ball at the goal.

Schneider led Lexington in scoring with 14 points, 12 came on three-pointers. Brown was also in double digits with 11 points. Andrea Plummer led the Lady Eagle rebounding effort with six caroms collected.
