Robert Green Chadwick
Bob was born September 25, 1923 in St. Albans, Vermont, the son of Harold H. and Frances Shirley Green Chadwick. He grew up in Montpelier, VT. Bob served in the United States Army in World War II with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Field Artillery. He married his first wife, Hazel Gray Evans on Jan. 1, 1946. She died of cancer in October of 1947 after giving birth to his first child, Judith. Bob married Anne Marie (Teague) Chadwick,April 15, 1950. He graduated from Middlebury College with a degree in Physics. Bob was a quality control executive for over 40 years, working for Picker XRay Corp, Brown Instrument Division, General Electric, NASA (Apollo Support Division), NCR Corporation, Atlas Bradford of Houston and Daniel Industries’ Electronics Division. He was a cattle rancher and formed his own independent consulting business in Quality Engineering and Management. He was a member of American Society for Quality for 40 years and served as chairman, teacher and lecturer. Bob was a church-goer and member of his choir for 50 years. He served as chairman of the church board for two churches. Bob has been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Giddings for the past four years. An outdoor person, he was a hiker and skier, and had a large model railroad collection. Bob was known for his great humor.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Marie (Teague) Chadwick of Giddings, and five children, Judith dePara and husband Domingo, of Nassau Bay, Linda True and husband David of Giddings, Nancy Chadwick and fiance Richard P. Hodge of Galveston, Robert G. Chadwick Jr. and wife, Karen of Houston, and Joanne I. Huntington and husband, Rick of Giddings.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren, Laura M. Birnbaum and husband, Randy, Sarah T. Horne and husband, Jake, Nicholas J. Castro, Adrian I. Castro and fiancee Cheryl Ellenwood, Katherine M. dePara, Sebastian A. Castro, Nathan A. dePara, Savannah M. Castro, Emily M. Chadwick, Daven C. Birnbaum, and Madelyn G. Birnbaum. He is survived by his sister, Catherine N. Nelson, and brother-in-law, Philip Corker, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Chadwick was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Hazel Chadwick, sister Joan H. Corker, and brothers-in-law and sistersin law Daniel A. Nelson, Charles A. Barton and Jane Teague Barton.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012 in First United Methodist Church of Giddings with Pastor Tim Edwards officiating.
His remains will be sent to Greenwood Cemetery, St. Albans, VT. to the Chadwick plot. Memorials have been requested to be given to The American Cancer Society and Heifer International.
