Santa Claus and Annual Pioneer Festival of Lights
The Christmas Season officially gets invited in with Lexington’s Annual Pioneer Festival of Lights. This year’s event will be held Saturday, December 1, once again, at the Lexington Log Cabins and Heritage Center, located on the north side of the Square in downtown Lexington.
Round Top State Bank, along with the Lexington Log Cabins, the Rotary Club International’s Interact Club and area churches help to sponsor this special occasion with food, music, toys, and, of course, Santa!
Sausage wraps and tea or coffee, provided by the Lexington Log Cabins and Heritage Center, will be available for the comfort and consumption of participants for a nominal charge.
Free cookies and hot cocoa will once again be supplied by Round Top State Bank, who has been hosting this event for more than 13 years.
The Rotary Club’s youth division, Interact, will be collecting new toys or $5 donations to benefit the Blue Santa program.
Santa will arrive at dusk to turn on the giant tree of lights located in front of the cabins. Once the giant tree is lit, Santa will enter a cabin set aside especially for him and all the children who are anxious to let him know what they’d like for Christmas. Everyone bringing Blue Santa donations will have the opportunity to sit on Santa’s knee and have their picture taken to commemorate the occasion.
Bill Tucker will bring his music system to provide accompaniment for local children’s choirs from the area churches.
