Lee County Coats for Kids Drive

Michelle Lockhart, owner of My Friend’s House Day School in Lexington, has partnered with Zoch’s Laundry and Washateria in Giddings, along with Lexington Elementary School, Giddings Elementary School and Dime Box Elementary School, to collect and distribute coats to children in need of one throughout Lee County.

“As the weather began to cool, I thought there may be a need to provide warm coats to local children who might not otherwise have one. I searched the internet and found that many towns collect coats for kids, including Austin. I approached the Jr. League of Austin, since they have a similar program, and have for years, and they were most helpful in giving me direction to get our own drive set up. But the most important thing anyone needs to know is that you can drop off your new or gently used coats at any one of the three elementary schools in Lee County, at Zoch’s Laundry and Washateria at 288 N. Burleson St in Giddings, or at My Friend’s House on Hale at Third Street in Lexington, before Friday, November 30,” Michelle said.

“Coats will be distributed on Saturday, December 8, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church located at 529 Burns Street in Lexington. Coats will be available for any child living in Lee County,” she continued.

Zoch’s Laundry and Washateria has been washing or cleaning each gently used coat so that they will be fresh and clean for the recipients. Anyone wanting to donate can do so by Nov. 30.
