Pecan Show Announced

The Lee and Burleson county offices of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a Pecan Show and Pecan Bake Show on November 19 in Burleson County, Caldwell. The Pecan Show allows pecan growers the opportunity to exhibit their products and educate the public about varying pecan qualities and selection processes. Participation in the show is free and open to all residents of Burleson and Lee Counties, as well as residents of adjoining counties that do not conduct such an event.

Lee County pecan entries will be accepted in the Lee County Extension office, 310 South Grimes, Giddings, until 9:00 am on Monday, November 19.

An entry should consist of at least 40 nuts (42 is preferred) of the same variety produced in 2012 by the grower/exhibitor. Entries containing a mixed sample will be disqualified. Entries should be submitted in pecan bags or paper sacks and should indicate the variety name, as well as the exhibitor’s name and address. Pecans should be free of dust, dirt and shuck remnants.
