My mornings have been made brighter this fall as our Lexington Band students fill the air of our secondary campuses with beautiful music while practicing for our Friday night football games. All of their practice and hard work paid off this past Saturday when our Lexington Marching Band received a Division 2 rating (which is equivalent to excellent) at the UIL District Marching Contest in Giddings. This year is not an advancing year for 2A schools; therefore, our band students are looking forward to advancing to the state level next year. It was wonderful for our band students to see all of their hard work pay off with this excellent rating.
I am so very proud of our outstanding musicians and their new Band Director, Ms. Nora Mosby. Ms. Mosby began tirelessly working to inspire our students long before her contract began this summer, and that selfless effort was rewarded this past week. We are blessed to have a band director of her caliber working with our students. I am looking forward to equally wonderful results during our band members’ next UIL competition at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest in April.
Community members are welcome to come and hear our Eagle Band at our Veterans’Program on November 9th at 10:00 a.m. at Eagle Stadium.
