District Court Hears Cases Involving Sex Offenders and Assault

Seven people were sentenced in the Lee County District Court last week, the Honorable Terry Flenneken presiding.

Curtis Desha Brooks, 18 of TYC Giddings, was sentenced to four years confinement in the TDCJ for assault of a public servant. He was ordered to pay a total of $788 in court costs and fees.

Brandon Thomas Slauenwhite, 21 of Giddings, had his original sentence revoked, as he was ordered to spend 180 days in the TDCJ for criminal mischief ($1500- $20,000). The Judge ordered him to pay all costs previously assessed, plus $400 for his court appointed attorney on revocation matters.

Kyle Lynn Charles Phillips, 27 of Giddings, was given ten years probation for failure to register as a sex offender with a previous conviction. He was ordered to pay a total of $2,288 in fines, court costs and fees. He was also ordered to spend 90 days confinement in the Lee County Law Enforcement Center as a condition of his probation. Phillips is to submit to a sex offender evaluation and treatment, plus an additional 180 days confinement in the Lee County Law Enforcement Center.

Cruz Martin Molina, 28 of Columbus, was given six years probation for sex offender’s duty to register. He was ordered to pay a total of $1,788 in fines, court costs and fees and to register as a sex offender.

Lajune Cheri Sims, 27 of Giddings, was given three years probation for credit card or debit card abuse. She was ordered to pay a total of $2,517.47 in fines, court costs, fees and restitution. She was ordered to perform 200 hours community service restitution and to spend 60 days confinement in the Lee County Law Enforcement Center as a condition of her probation. She must submit to a drug/alcohol evaluation and treatment, as well as urinalysis testing.

Orlando Cruz Ochoa, 37 of Lockhart, was sentenced to two years confinement in the TDCJ, probated two years, for possession of a controlled substance – cocaine (1 to 4 grams). He was ordered to pay a total of $1,588 in fines, court costs, fees and restitution. Ochoa must submit to a drug/alcohol evaluation and treatment, urinalysis testing and enroll in and successfully complete the intermediate sanction facility program.

Edgar Macias, 18 of Austin, was sentenced to one year in the TDCJ, probated three years, for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was ordered to pay a total of $2,378 in fines, court costs, fees and restitution. He was ordered to perform 200 hours community service restitution and to spend 30 days in the Lee County Law Enforcement Center.
