Former Eagle Remembered

by Mike Organ

Fount Wade was a Lexington Eagle in 1938. This man scored 56 points against the Eagles’ #1 rival – Giddings.

Wade went to A&M and was a member of the Aggies 1939 national championship team as a reserve. He may have been Lexington’s finest athlete pre 1950. He would only be challenged by the legendary Bill Brademan, who came through in the forties. Brademan went to SWT and earned Little All-American honors.

Thanks to Amos and Elaine Quinney for the picture. Amos said if he ever had had a son, he was going to name him Billy Fount in honor of Lexington’s two great athletes of his era.
