by Mike Organ

The Lexington Lady Eagle Cross Country team captured first place at the Franklin “Ranch Stampede” cross country meet Saturday. The course was long and hilly but the girls responded to the challenge. Stephanie Brower (5th), Aylin Flores (8th), Reagan Johnston (10th), Alyssa Dussetschleger (14th), and Alyssa Mireles (21st) combined for the low score of the day to win the championship.

In the JV girl’s division Cecily Ketchum was 4th and Susanna Brasiel was 5th.

In the JV Boys division Mathew Martin ran a 22:00.27 to set a new course record finishing first. Vance Kassner was 4th, Gregory Willrich was 6th, and Hunter Biehle was 12th to make a good showing, Unfortunately they only had four runners, not the five needed to place as a team or they might have won first also.

The meet was held at the new school facility, Ranch Community Park. The facility is a new $12 million dollar facility designed by the architect that was in charge of the Atlanta Olympic venue. The park is open to the public daily.

The District Meet for Junior High will be in Cameron Saturday, October 20.
