Lee County Judge Helps Eliminate Trucks Carrying Wide Load on FM 696 W
Lee County Judge, Paul Fischer, learned last week that the Texas Department of Transportation is putting in to action a request he has made for months.
“I have had a number of people call me over the past several months concerning large, oversized loads being taken down FM 696 West. Lee County residents explain that the transports are slow, not to mention dangerous, when meeting them on the highway, as most of them take up, not only their entire lane, but also a large portion of the lane going in the opposite direction,” said Judge Fischer.
TexDOT sent a letter to Judge Fischer on October 10, telling him that within five days, trucks would be restricted to loads no wider than 10’ between FM 619 and Loop 123 in Lexington on FM 696 West. This should give relief to many who travel that busy road for work or school.
