Homecoming 2012

Eagles Host Johnson City
by Mike Organ

A new opponent will be Lexington’s foe in the 2012 homecoming game. The Johnson City Eagles will be playing Lexington for the first time ever. JC is 2-4 for the season with victories over Class A teams Medina and Center Point. The Eagles’ losses came in games against Granger, San Marcos Academy, Schulenburg, and Jarrell. Jarrell is the only common opponent. Lexington defeated Jarrell 44-7, while JC lost to the Cougars 35-14. Johnson City is playing in 2A in 2012, after going 0-10 in Class A in 2011.

JC is led by 6’4” wide receiver Chase Klaerner. Throwing to Klaerner will be sophomore Will Rutherford. Several other JC sophomores will be playing both ways as the Maroon Eagles build experience and group more athletes together.
