Billy “Bill” Horace Koenig

June 7, 1933 - October 3, 2012

Billy “Bill” Horace Koenig was born on June 7, 1933 in Elgin, Texas to Wayland Horace & Hazel (Morris) Koenig. He graduated from high school in Austin and served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. Bill received his Honorable Discharge on May 7, 1960 having obtained the rank of Corporal. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Dodd on October 19, 1956 in Giddings, Texas. Bill was employed as a technician with Western Union in San Antonio and Houston. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching football. Always the perfectionist, Bill had everything in order and in its place.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Koenig.

Bill is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Dorothy of Ledbetter; his daughter, Donna Koenig of Cypress; his son, Don Koenig and his wife, Joyce of Hockley; sister, Diane White of Arlington; brother, Steve Koenig of Ft. Worth; four sisters-in-law, Margurite Lawrence of Giddings, Sue & Robert Placke of Giddings, Brennice & Calvin Koether of Giddings and Nancy Regiene of Houston; brother-in-law, Bert & Katie Dodd of Giddings, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Friday, October 5, 2012 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Tim Pitts officiating. Burial followed in the Dodd Family Cemetery in Beat Five, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers were Bobby Lawrence, Dennis Placke, Jerry Dyer, Steve Sweatman, Bobby Bardwell and Randy Dodd.
