Just a Thought.......
In our town, a lot of folks still pay their bills in person. A wonderful habit, with multiple benefits besides reducing the debt. Here are just a few.
You get to see real people. Most of the time, they know your name and you can call theirs. Probably they know your children, also, and often, your grandchildren. Pictures and updates are shared along with the usual compliments and encouragements.
You get to talk about your aches and pains. An important activity, particularly if you live alone. Just expressing where you are and hearing someone else’s concern is a marvelous healer.
Sometimes, good doctors, or old remedies are part of the conversation and further healing follows. No co-pays, insurance forms and later bills are required.
You get to talk about the weather. Always a good conversation starter, but an even better creator of hope. If you got some rain, maybe I will, too. If I got more than you, somehow it helps. If you got more than me, well, the Bible says, the rain falls on the just and the unjust.
And, last, but not least, you avoid the latest disease: social isolation. Which means, in the end, you live longer, and better.
Now, aren’t you glad you live here and not there.
