Lady Eagles Fall

But Still Hanging on to First Place

The Lady Eagles lost their first district volleyball game Friday in Jarrell, losing in five games. Lexington still maintains first place, alone, in the district race.

The contest between Lexington and Jarrell was an up and down exhibition. Jarrell won game one 22-25. Lexington dominated game two, 25-7. Jarrell was back on top with a 17-25 win in game three. Lexington played well as they won game four 25-16. Jarrell then battled back to win the 5th game: 11-15.

Johna Alford led the team with 12 kills, with teammates Karley Wren and Aleece Moerbe right behind with 11 and 9 each. Setter Karsen Ross had eight kills. Alford had 8 blocks in the contest. Ross put up 36 assists for her teammates to slam home. Moerbe, Wren, and Meghann Wrinkle had three service aces for the Lady Eagles.

Defensively, Madison Bexley had 16 digs of Jarrell scoring attempts. Ross had 11 digs and Wren had 10 digs to blunt Jarrell scoring tries.

The Lady Eagle Freshmen won their match in two games 25-18 and 25-21.

The Lady Eagle JV lost in two games: 14-25, 9-25.

The following are the complete varsity stats vs. Jarrell: Johna Alford- 12 kills, 8 digs, 8 blocks; Madeline Morton- 6 kills, 4 digs; Madi Bexley- 16 digs; Karsen Ross- 8 kills, 36 assists, 11 digs, 2 aces; Karley Wren- 11 kills, 10 digs, 1 block, 3 aces; Aleece Moerbe- 9 kills, 2 assists, 5 digs, 1 block, 3 aces; and Meghann Wrinkle- 2 kills, 1 assist, 6 digs, 2 blocks, 3 aces.
