Giddings Residents Sentenced in District Court

Four people, all from Giddings, were sentenced in the 21st District Judicial Court of Lee County last Thursday, September 27, with the Honorable Terry Flenniken presiding.

Brandon Jamal Gouldin, 17 (TYC), was sentenced for assault of a public servant. He was given three years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and ordered to pay a total of $788 in court costs and fees.

Juan Ramon Salomon, 32, was sentenced for assault causing bodily injury. He was given 30 days confinement in the Lee County Law Enforcement Center and ordered to pay a total of $788 in court costs and fees.

Paul Joe Rodriguez,20, was sentenced for two counts of forgery. In the first case, he was ordered to spend two years confinement in the TDCJ state jail facility, probated five years. He was ordered to pay a $750 fine plus $788 in court costs and fees. He was also ordered to pay $2,971.43 restitution and to enter and successfully complete an intermediate sanctions facility program as a condition of his probation. This sentence will run concurrent with the second forgery case, where he was again given two years confinement in the TDCJ state jail facility, probated five years. In that case, he was ordered to pay an additional $788 in court costs and fees.

Toni Mondrelle James, aka Toni Mondrelle Cook, 30, was sentenced, first, for possession of a controlled substance – cocaine, less than 1 gram and, second, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon-threat. In the first case, she was sentenced to two years confinement in the TDCJ state jail facility, probated two years. She was ordered to pay a $500 fine, $848 in court costs and fees, and $140 restitution. She will spend 180 days in the TDCJ as a condition of probation and she will successfully complete a mental health evaluation and treatment as recommended by the Community Supervision and Corrections Department.

In the second case, Toni Mondrelle James/Cook was given ten years probation. She was fined $1,000, and ordered to pay an additional $888 in court costs and fees, and $5,806.37 restitution. She must enter and successfully complete an anger management program and successfully complete a mental health evaluation and treatment as recommended by the Community Supervision and Corrections Department.
