Eagles Travel to Navasota
Navasota’s mascot is the rattlesnake. They make a lot of noise to warn you they are about to strike. Their bite can be harmful and discomforting, but not deadly, in most cases. The Navasota team is ranked #2 in Class 3A, all divisions. The Rattlers have six offensive and seven defensive starters returning, including most of the skill position players from last season’s 11-2 regional finalist team.
Quarterback Kadarius Baker threw for over 3,000 yards and 40 touchdowns last season. Wide receiver Solomon McGinty caught passes for 1,342 yards and 17 TDs. On the other side of the field, receiver Austin Collins caught passes for 892 yards and 13 TDs.
Defensively, district MVP Will Imhoff is the leader. Imhoff had 163 tackles last season. Defensive end Jake Baueer had 117 tackles and 13 quarterback sacks.
Navasota is 3-0 thus far this season. The Rattlers have defeated Willis 42-6, Coldspring 36-8, and Houston Sterling 49-6.
This will be the Eagles last nondistrict game, as district play starts next week in Jarrell.
