Jason Holcomb, Lexington ISD’s Athletic Director and head football coach, continues his practice of using tough competition in the non-district schedule to hone the performance of his Eagle football team. This strategy doesn’t always put a “W” in the Eagle stats, but it is a strategy that has kept the Eagles in the playoff contention arena almost every year of Holcomb’s 12 years in Lexington.

Last Friday, the Eagles played the Cameron Yoemen, who are playing Class 2A Division I, while the Eagles are playing in Class 2A Division II. Cameron is ranked #2 in the state this year, while Lexington is ranked #4 in the state. Unfortunately, the Eagles fell to the Yoe, 38-20.

The Eagles will travel to Franklin Friday, another highly ranked 2A Division I team. Franklin was 10-3 last year, with two of their losses to Lexington and the other to Rogers. Game time is 7:30.
