Sports Thoughts…..

by Mike Organ

Texas State (SWT) really surprised the football world by beating the University of Houston, despite being the 34 ½ point underdogs. There were some gamblers out there that made a haul.

The Eagle sports teams are doing great so far. A tourney championship for volleyball, a decisive win over Crockett in football, and a team win in Cross Country. How much better balanced can a program be?

The Eagle JV footballers also put a whoopin on Crockett with a 38-14 win. I will need to get a JV parent to get me some information so we can write about the youngsters.

Giddings got by Liberty Hill with a passing game. The Buffs have always had plenty of speed and now they are getting the ball in uncongested areas.

UT dropped Wyoming to less than stellar reviews from fans. Wyoming was able to lead UT in the first half and had them scared late in the game. I still think Case McCoy should be the starter. My reasoning is that David Ash is the best athlete, but McCoy is a winner. By winner, I mean he doesn’t look as good on the field, but he leads his team to wins (the 25-yard run vs A&M to set up the game winning field goal).
