Lexington and Marlin looked evenly matched during the controlled portion of last Thursday’s scrimmage. When the coaches were moved off the field and the simulated game portion started, the Lexington Eagles proved to be the team of the night.

Lexington scored on a long drive, a long pass, a hard defensive hit causing a fumble, with a scoop and score following, as well as another long drive with yardage coming in large chunks. Kogan Garrett looked in midseason form, throwing passes on target. Jason Washington snagged one of his patented bombs from Garrett. Kash Flot and Eriq Mitchell ran the ball real tough all night long.

As impressive as the Eagle offense was, the Eagle defense shined brightly during the simulated game also. When the Marlin runners were ready to hit the hole, there was an Eagle with wings spread, ready to make the tackle. When the poor Marlin quarterback went back to pass, there was an Eagle flushing him out of the pocket or knocking him down.
