Eagle Scrimmage Report
Lexington scrimmaged Caldwell and the brand new College Station High School last Friday night in Elgin. Neither team was that much of a challenge for the highly ranked Eagles. The Eagle offense protected quarterback Kogan Garrett on pass plays, and the Eagles scored on four long runs.
Coach Jason Holcomb said, “We were pleased with the effort of the kids, and that no one was injured. We learned some things about several kids, and found some things we need to improve upon.”
Caldwell went three and out on their first two tries on offense. The Hornets then mounted a drive with several penalties overlooked. The drive was stopped when Jamyon Scott picked off a pass for the Eagles.
Lexington’s Cash Flot scored on long runs. Eriq Mitchell ran hard and Garrett was on target with his passes. The offensive line opened gaps for runs and kept the defense away from Garrett on pass plays.
The Eagle defense gave up only one touchdown all night and that was against the second JV unit. “Our defense played extremely well for the first scrimmage. We were very happy with the scrimmage,” said Holcomb.
