Just a Thought.......

Rev. DaveFischer

Do you believe that churches are important for the quality of life in Lexington?

Or, are you willing to forego Vacation Bible School, Sunday School and Worship?

Do you feel that having a pastor to bring comfort at the time of loss and blessing at the time of birth is significant?

Are you convinced that regular preaching of God’s Word encourages people to be their best selves and enhances life for all in our community?

If you anwered “Yes” to any or all of these, then I have one more question.

Do you regularly attend church? And do you share of your resources to see that they continue to be strong and growing?

In a former community, the local coffee group was complaining about the closure of a very fine restaurant. “I can’t believe they shut their doors!” was a common refrain around the table.

Then someone asked, “When was the last time you went there?”

A momentary silence ensued as each man tried to remember. When answers finally came, none of them had made a recent visit to that establishment. It was clear why they had to stop serving. Lack of support had killed them.

I know. We don’t believe that will ever happen to our churches.

What we believe is that someone will keep them going so that when we need them they will be there. I hope you are right.

In the meantime, we are open every week-end.

Rev. David Fischer is interim Minister at First Christian Church in Lexington
