LCRA Accepting Applications For Regional Councils

Applications are being accepted for membership on LCRA’s Regional Councils, a group of volunteers who provide an important communications link between LCRA and communities throughout the Colorado River basin.

Regional Council members meet at least six times a year to discuss regional topics involving LCRA services in their communities. Members pass along information from council meetings to their local communities to provide a clear, accurate understanding of issues related to LCRA.

“Members of the Regional Councils help share information about LCRA activities, and at the same time give us insight into issues that arise in their own communities,” LCRA General Manager Becky Motal said. “We appreciate everyone who volunteers for the councils and encourage anyone with an interest to submit an application.”

LCRA created the Regional Councils in 2009. This year, LCRA is updating the councils to take a broader, more regional approach.

The Regional Councils include the following LCRA service areas:

•Upper Basin

•Central Basin

•Mid-Basin, which includes Lee, Bastrop, Caldwell, Comal, Dewitt, Gonzales, Guadalupe, and Lavaca counties; and

• Lower Basin.

Members serve two- or fouryear terms and must agree to attend at least six meetings a year. Each council will include up to 30 members.

LCRA strives to appoint members who represent diverse interests, including property ownership. For more information, or to submit an application, contact Heather Richardson at (800) 776-5272, ext. 3290.
