Country Music Monday

A Community Service Project of The Giddings Rotary Club is the monthly presentation of Country Music Monday held at the Giddings High School Cafetorium on Highway 77 north of Giddings. The August Country Music presentation will be held on August 6th at 7:30 P.M. Tickets are $5.00, assisted parking, and food available.

Five Country Music stars will fill the auditorium with a variety of Country Music at the August show, old standbys, current hits and their own compositions written to entertain people. Sally Carlson is one we have learned to know and enjoy as she performs frequently on Country Music Monday.

Rick Weiss, from the Brenham area, grew up in a musical family and began playing drums in a country band with his dad at age eleven. Throughout the years he has played drums and guitar in numerous dance bands and is currently a member of the Fayetteville Country Music Show and the Cuero Opry Show Band. Rick’s musical highlight includes playing for Tony Booth, one of his favorite country singers of all time.

Terry Lynn Moore was formerly from Arkansas but now resides in Bastrop and has been singing and entertaining for many years. She started her career in Arkansas singing with the Three Creeks Band and has performed at many pageants and festivals across Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. She has opened for many known artists including Diamond Rio, Brooks and Dunn, and B. J. Thomas. While in Florida she was part of the country gospel group “God’s County.” As part of their ministry she traveled and performed in Alaska, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina Florida and Arkansas. She has released a number of Gospel CD’s and is excited to sing in churches bringing God’s message to the people in song.

Jeff Kimey and Tom Morris are Central Texas products who have been stringing their guitars and singing for a number of years. Jeff, Tom and the regular Country Music Band will add to the enjoyment of the evening.

In January The Rotary Club will begin its 20th year of producing Country Music Monday. To make this a memorable and exciting event, the Rotarians are deep into plans for Monday, January 7, 2013.
